Whether in France, Europe, or around the world, it is easy to be swept away by the current of events, in these turbulent times. Yet, it is crucial not to lose sight of the imminent approach of UN Biodiversity COP16. Now is the time to redouble our vigilance and efforts – basically not the time to lock ourselves in our offices 🙄 What contributions will countries make to meet the collective ambition of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework? How will they find the necessary resources and means of implementation? Will they initiate national dialogues to address socio-economic and equity challenges while strengthening the implementation of ambitious biodiversity targets? Finally, how will high-level political mobilization be structured, and who will be the key actors? This is not just about COP16, but also about how biodiversity issues are integrated into other high-level international events & decisions, crucial for its protection and for supporting the most affected and vulnerable populations. In this blog post, I explore these essential questions. Iddri will, of course, be present at COP16 in four months, and we invite you to contact us to discuss further!
